Mr. A.J. “Butch” Shoemaker, age 70, of D’Iberville, died Thursday, December 20, 2012.
Mr. Shoemaker was a native and lifelong resident of the MS Gulf Coast. He retired as a self-employed contractor and delivered newspapers for the Biloxi-D’Iberville Press. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Shoemaker enjoyed playing the guitar and was a member of several country bands on the coast. He was a huge fan of the D’Iberville High School Warriors Football Team and the New Orleans Saints. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Shoemaker is preceded in death by his parents, William and Willie Mae Shoemaker.
His survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Hermina Shoemaker; daughter, Karen Howell (Richard); son, Paul Shoemaker (Susan); six grandchildren, Cortney Ballew, Zachary Shoemaker, Maddie Howell, Loren Howell, Julianna Shoemaker and Synclaire Shoemaker; and brothers, George Hover and Bruce Hover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Friends may visit two hours prior. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe is in charge of arrangements.
