Alexandra Cossifis Peters, 87, of Ocean Springs, MS died Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Biloxi.
Mrs. Peters was born November 23, 1926 in Skopelos, Greece. She emigrated from Skopelos in 1948 with her husband and moved to Clarksdale, MS where she lived for fifty-one years before relocating to Ocean Springs, MS. While in Clarksdale, she was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Memphis and the Kirkpatrick Home Demonstration Club. In Ocean Springs, she was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Biloxi. Mrs. Peters enjoyed volunteering at Kings Daughters Thrift Store and the Walter Anderson Museum.
Mrs. Peters is preceded in death by her husband, Speros Peters; her parents, Eleftherios and Kyratso Cossifis; her brothers, Speros Cossifis and Gus Cossifis; and her sisters, Katina Kohili and Mahi Tsoukala.
She leaves behind, her sons, Louis Peters (Linda) and Manuel Peters (Susanna); her grandchildren, John, Christopher (Emily), Alexis (Kyle) Zink, Spero and Alex; her great-granddaughter, Alexandra; and her brother, John Cossifis.
The family would like to thank everyone at Residences at Bay Cove and Hospice Advantage for their kind and special care during her recent illness.
Memorial donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Memphis, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Biloxi or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 9:30 am until 11:30 am, with an 11:30 am Trisagion Service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. A second service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at St. George Episcopal Church in Clarksdale, MS, where friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS on Monday, March 24, 2014.
