Alva Lula Goff Parrish, age 98, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in Ocean Springs, MS.
Alva was a native and lifelong resident of Vancleave. She was a lifelong member of the Vancleave Reorganized Church of Latter-Day Saints. She was the former operator of the Pretty Parlor Beauty Salon in Vancleave. She was also a former resident of the Villa Maria Retirement Home for 14 years.
Alva is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin "El" and Sylvia "Lou" Goff; and her husband of 69 years, Clyde Parrish; five brothers and sisters, Jessie Tillman, Edwina Shriner, Lloyd Goff, Julia Holden, and Willie Rouse; and one grandson, Taylor Lyons.
Alva's survivors include her three daughters, Linda (Sonny) Backs, Paulette (Butch) Stagg, and Aleta Parrish; three grandchildren, Leslie (Wesley) Lyons, Michelle (Paul Benton) Ward, and Kendyle "Scott" Woodard; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Lyons, Gavin Backs, and Emery Backs; special friend, George McRaney; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Vancleave Reorganized Church of Latter-Day Saints Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with an 11:00 a.m. service. Interment will follow at the Vancleave RLDS Church Cemetery.
The Vancleave Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
