Amaryllis "Amy" Catherine Straughan

Amaryllis “Amy” Catherine Straughan danced her way into the arms of her Lord on May 28, 2014. Born on July 25, 1929, she blessed those around her with 84 years of love, joy and laughter. The quality of Amy’s existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which she lived. Amy was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and loved everything it had to offer. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, bingo, line dancing, her associations with the Gulf Coast Carnival Balls, D’Iberville Senior Citizens Center and many others. Amy is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Katie Trochessett; her husband, Frankie Straughan; her sisters, Inez Porter, Josephine Lamey and Clarice Lightner; her brothers, Harold, Edward, R.V., Eric, Earl and William Trochessett; and her dear friend, Weldon Ross. Amy is survived by her brother, Arthur Trochessett; her daughter, Monique Straughan (Scott) Pietrowski; her granddaughter, Nacquel (Christian) Jalanivich Bennett; her grandson, Logan Straughan; her sister-in-law, Jo Ann Trochessett and her friend, Terry Smith. Amy was a devout Catholic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit at the church 2 hours prior. Burial will be at Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
