Anna Marie Tisdale

February 22, 2017 in Atlanta, Texas at 5 AM, Anna Marie left this world and came face-to-face with Jesus. (She appeared to have been dancing with Him her last few days, going by her arm motions.) Born in New Orleans on May 10, 1941, she was raised in Gulfport, Mississippi by her parents Joseph K. and Anna Maria Fasold. She attended St. Joseph Academy in Bay St. Louis and graduated in 1959 from Gulfport High School. While in high school Anna Marie and her sister Margaret helped in their father’s jewelry store on 14th Street, Joseph K. Fasold. This business was started in 1917 by her great uncle, Karl Fasold, which is celebrating it’s 100 years in business. After the deaths of Anna Marie’s parents, Anna pursued a career in banking beginning at the Hancock Bank in Gulfport. While working for a bank in Dallas, Texas, she was reunited with her high school sweetheart Dan “Garvis” Tisdale. They were married on September 30, 1989 and lived in Florida, Texas and Ocean Springs, MS. Anna is preceded in death by her maternal grand parents Robert and Johanna Pfaeffinger and her parents Joseph K. Fasold and Anna Maria Fasold and her mother and father-in-law Thelma and Garvis Tisdale. She is survived by her devoted husband Dan Tisdale, her step son Barry Tisdale, brothers Karl and Joseph Fasold and her sister Margaret Fasold and a lifelong friend Linda Goesling. On September 28, 2016 Anna stumbled and fell on an unsafe walkway in Jefferson, TX. The fall fractured her hip; combined with her dementia she survived five months under skilled nursing care in East Texas. We want to honor Anna and take measures to avoid like incidents in the future. So in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anna Tisdale may be made to The Excelsior Foundation, 211 W. Austin St., Jefferson, TX 75657. All proceeds will be used for the repair and beautification of the walkways around downtown Jefferson. The Excelsior is a 501C3 non-profit organization. Dan also plans to place a Memorial Bench where she fell on. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2 PM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport, MS. A time of fellowship will follow at the Great Southern Club in Gulfport, MS on the 15th floor of the Hancock Bank Building. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
