Armond Carroll "Arnie" Gollott, Sr.

Armond Carroll “Arnie” Gollott, Sr., 84, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Arnie passed away peacefully at Ocean Springs Hospital with his loving wife Anne at his side. He had battled pneumonia and other complications for several days. Arnie was born in Biloxi, MS on November 29, 1932 to C.F. and Alice Diaz Gollott. He has one younger sister, Alice Mae. Arnie was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast growing up in Biloxi and later moving 'across da bay' to D'Iberville, which he always considered his hometown. He moved again later in life to Ocean Springs and lived there with Anne until the time of his death. As a young man Arnie attended school in D'Iberville and worked in the seafood business with his father from a very early age. Arnie was active in many local causes and charities, he continued proudly with the family tradition of generous community involvement. Arnie along with his parents sponsored countless local sports teams. He was a lifelong supporter of St. Theresa Church, later Sacred Heart Parish, in D'Iberville including the annual Bazaar held there. Arnie was a member of the D'Iberville Community Club where he was selected as one of their Mardi Gras Kings. He was a proud founding member of the unofficial D'Iberville Burger King Coffee Club where he enjoyed honest, polite, and serious discussions about important matters of the day. Arnie served as president for many years at C.F. Gollott. Arnie's family business, C.F. Gollott & Son's Seafood Inc., is now in its 85th year of operation, four generations strong, due largely to his hard work and dedication. During Arnie's lifetime C.F. Gollott has been recognized by President Reagan, several governors of MS, many county officials, as well as officials from the cities of Biloxi and D'Iberville, and as well as many other groups and organizations. Arnie was well respected throughout the seafood industry and many places around the country for his business relationships, charming personality, and innovations. Arnie had the honor to serve as Shrimp King in 2007 for the Biloxi Blessing of the Fleet, an experience he thoroughly enjoyed. Arnie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed that special time with all generations of his large family and many friends. Arnie was also fond of traveling and RV'd across the United States with his wife and best friend, Anne. He and Anne also went on several cruises including an Alaskan cruise. Arnie and Anne also toured Europe where he thoroughly enjoyed visiting Anne's home country of France, which is also his ancestral land. It is without question that Arnie's favorite way to spend his time was with Anne dancing or dining. Arnie very much loved to take his family on his boat to Ship Island for fun Sundays in the saltwater and sand. He was especially fond of any family gathering where he would love spending time with and cutting up with his five sons, Brian, Arny Jr., Dale, Nicky and Ben. Arnie always enjoyed his time with his many grandchildren and ever-expanding number of great-grandchildren and was their loving Paw-Paw Arnie to them all. He was a loving man and always a joy to be around in all of his roles, be it husband, father, Paw-Paw, friend or businessman. Arnie excelled with the relationships in all of his roles, he was widely known as a people person. His presence in the lives of those he leaves behind will forever be missed. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, C.F. and Alice Diaz Gollott; and his son, Nicky Gollott.
