Nick Ashley, 68, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Nick was a resident of Ocean Springs for the past 31 years. He was born in Lawrenceville, IL and spent his early life in southern Illinois before moving to Ocean Springs. In Illinois Nick was the owner/operator of his beloved Peterbilt eighteen wheeler. He was employed at the Chevron Oil Refinery as an operator and retired from there. Nick always had a love for the outdoors and outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, shrimping, quarter horse racing and motor cycle riding. For many years he held the Mississippi record for King Mackerel. Most fulfilling for Nick was being able to help his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Silas W. and Gladys Umfleet Ashley; his infant son, Scotty Dale Ashley and his first wife, Sandra “Sandy” Marie; his sister, Connie Hankins and his brother, James “Pete” Ashley.
Nick is survived by his wife, Beth; two children, Nichole Ashley of Daphne, AL and Clinton “CD” Ashley of Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren, David and Lauren Szumigala; brother, Silas Ashley, Jr. of Petersburg, IN.
Nick will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
