Arthur "Artie" A. Young

Arthur A. Young, age 77, of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. He was born on January 25, 1941 in Darby, Pennsylvania. He attended St. Gabriel School, Interboro High School and St. James High School. Arthur served in the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief. He was involved in the Bay of Pigs Blockade, served in the Vietnam War, and finished his duty on the USS Blue Ridge, the Flagship of the 7th Fleet in the Western Pacific. He spent 10 years at the shipyard as an inspector and was a bus driver for the Biloxi School System for 6 years. During his spare time he enjoyed golf and fishing. He enjoyed listening to good music especially country, including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Alabama. He loved his family, attended Mass and loved his Philly sports. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Lavina Young and William Young; and siblings, Lorretta (Miles) Fulkerson of Painted Post, New York, Helen (Owen) Cline of New Castle, Delaware, Edward Young of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, and Chief of Police William Young of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania. Survivors include wife, Rosie Young of Biloxi, Mississippi; children, Tracey Young of Murphy, North Carolina, Kimberly Young of Crystal Lake Illinois, Arthur Young, Jr of Biloxi, Mississippi and Leonora Young of Biloxi, Mississippi; grandchild, Taylor Dornik of Murphy, North Carolina; siblings, Carolyn Young of Norwood, Pennsylvania, Ida DiMaio (Dominic) of Ocean View, Delaware and Mary Ann Monteith of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Lillian Young of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania; pet dog, Riley; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
