Arthur Charles Baker

On Friday, July 14, 2017, we lost our son, brother and dear friend Arthur Charles Baker. Arthur, 38, was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and proud to call New Orleans, Louisiana his place of birth. As a fascinating artist, brilliant writer and distinctive musician, Arthur affected all of those around him with his seemingly endless talents. A passionate learner, Arthur received a bachelor’s degree in both art history and social work, subsequently continuing his education as he worked diligently to obtain his MBA through Amberton University, inspiring many. His caring and selfless love embraced and helped countless friends and family members throughout his life. And though his talents can no longer pour from his creative mind, his energy and love will remain with us all as we cherish his many creations and lasting memories. Arthur is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Baker of Biloxi, MS; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Sentell of Ocean Springs, MS. Survivors include his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin M. Baker; siblings, Alvin M. Baker (Emily) and Andrew Baker; cousin, Mardia Wicks Neel; aunt, Sandra Sentell Hillburn; and a host of relatives and friends. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration in memory of Arthur, Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 4-6 pm at the family home. The family would like to send our appreciation and thanks to Dr. Varner and staff of Gulfport Memorial Oncology, Kare In Home Hospice, the Government Street Grocery for hosting Arthur’s fundraiser, the city of Biloxi and its employees for their kindness and generosity and the support of family and friends. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
