Arthur A. DeLano

Arthur A. DeLano, 95, of Huntington, NY, Biloxi, MS and most recently Baltimore, MD, died Wednesday, April 29th in Baltimore, MD. Art was born at home in Rouse’s Point, NY. He was the youngest of seven children. After graduating from high school, Art enlisted in the Army Air Corps as an aviation mechanic. In 1942, Art was appointed a Staff Sergeant at Kessler Field. While at Kessler Air Field, Art met Doris Ellen Caillavet. On December 9, 1943, Art and Doris were married in New Haven, Connecticut. Art was commissioned the same day, as a Second Lieutenant. Art was a flight engineer instructor on B-29s. After being discharged from active duty on January 15, 1946, Art began his career as a flight engineer with American Overseas Airlines and Pan American World Airlines. He retired from Pan American in 1985. Art and Doris then returned to Biloxi. Art is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his beloved Doris. He is survived by his son Arthur A. DeLano, Jr. of Biloxi, his granddaughters Clare Testerman and Laura DeLano, grand son-in-law, Phil Testerman, great-granddaughter, Lily Testerman and great-grandson, Austin Testerman, sister-in-law, Barbra Moon and brother-in-law, Lloyd Moon. Art is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral on Saturday, May 9, 2015, where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to the Collins Family Stained Glass Window Fund Care of Nativity B.V.M.
