Audrey James Crawley

Audrey James Crawley, age 72, a longtime resident of Biloxi, passed away on December 20, 2012 at Biloxi Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Ms. Crawley was well known within the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community, and was owner of Her Majesty’s Coiffures Beauty Shop in downtown Biloxi for 46 years. She took great pride in her business and worked tirelessly to ensure that Her Majesty’s patrons were treated like family. This was never more evident than in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when Her Majesty’s was one of the first downtown businesses to reopen, because Ms. Crawley knew that the Biloxi community needed to return to a sense of routine and normalcy. Ms. Crawley loved to decorate her business and home for Christmas and Mardi Gras, and welcomed all her family and friends with a gracious smile, a warm hug, and in true southern tradition, an array of delicious foods. In her later years, Ms. Crawley’s biggest joy was spoiling her great-grandchildren, who kept her young at heart and active. Ms. Crawley is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Thomas and Haughtie Lee James; and her brothers Bobby Clifford James and Walter Thomas James, Jr. Her survivors include her three daughters, Sonja Barnette of Biloxi, Tomi Cassibry of Biloxi, and her husband Dennis, and Billie Langson of Abu Dabhi, U.A.E., and her husband Sidney. She leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Bethany Anthony of Mobile, AL and her husband Wes, Kyle Barnette, Jr. of Vancleave, and his wife Jennifer, Kris Barnette of Mobile, AL, and his wife Brooke, William Heyl V of Biloxi, and his wife Elisabeth, Tara Hardee of Perry, GA, and her husband Josh, Amber Belcher of Nacogdoches, TX, and her husband Corey, Jennifer Robertson of Marshall, TX, and her husband Scott, T.J. Cassibry, Leann Cassibry, and Lauren Richards all of Gulfport, Tammany Barnette of Mobile, AL, and Murriah Barnette of Hattiesburg. Ms. Crawley also leaves behind eleven great grandchildren, Emma, Cooper, and Audrey Ella Anthony of Mobile, AL, Kaiden and Kolby Barnette of Vancleave, Audrey Lee Barnette of Mobile, AL, Katelynn Holemo of Enterprise, AL, William Heyl VI of Biloxi, Bayley Cassibry of Gulfport, JayDe Robertson of Marshall, TX, and Avelynn Belcher of Nacogdoches, TX. Ms. Crawley leaves behind her sister, Betty Grant of Chattanooga, TN, a brother, Eddie James of Bath Springs, TN, and her longtime companion, Donald Schwartz, of Biloxi. A memorial service will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Friends may visit 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and family immediately thereafter at Her Majesty’s Beauty Shop.
