August “Auggie” Joseph Derouen, Jr., 76, of North Biloxi, passed peacefully with his family by his side, on Sunday, March 30, 2014.
He was a Retired Operator from Keesler. Auggie was known for his many artistic talents such as carving, painting and sewing cast nets. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending his summers on the water and his winters in the woods. He and his wife, Janet, would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary April 18, 2014. August lived a good life and was loved by many. Even though he was a Yellow Jacket, he was always a Warrior at heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, August Derouen, I; mother, Eleanor Groue Gum; stepfather, Norton Gum; father and mother-in-law, James and Mildred Borries; and grandson, Brandon Breal.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; children, Anna Breal (Charles), Yvonne Moseley (Bobby) and August Joseph “AJ” Derouen, III (Annie); grandchildren, Amber Creel Bourgeois (John), Andrea Creel Thames (Jeremy), Melissa Moseley, Matthew Moseley, Desiree Derouen, Delaney Derouen and Derek Breal; great-grandchildren, Anna-Clare Bourgeois and John Joseph Bourgeois; brothers, Larry Derouen (Janice), Darney Derouen, and Keith Derouen (Iris); brother and sister-in-laws, AnnaBell Cox (Moochie), Jimmy Borries (Rhonda), Ralph Borries (Shelia) and Ray Borries (Elaine); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was loved immensely and will be missed every day.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, where friends may visit three hours prior. Burial will follow at Groue Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe is in charge of arrangements.
