Beatrice Philmon Sasser

Beatrice Philmon Sasser, age 97, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Beatrice was born March 12, 1920 in Blakly, Georgia to Lizzie and Jesse Philmon. When she was born, her brother ran to the school bus shouting, "Mama had a baby girl and named her 'Bed Mattress!'" She won many awards with bowling. She was also an expert quilter and loved growing flowers. Beatrice worked twenty years at Lily Cup Plant. She came from a large family of thirteen children. She enjoyed quilting, family reunions, and bowling very much. She had faithful attendance at the Sweetwater Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina. Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Lizzie Philmon; her husband, Felix A. Sasser; her daughter, Brenda B. Towne; nine sisters; and three brothers. Beatrice's survivors include her daughter, Felicia S. (Robert J.) Philpot; her grandchildren, Malissa Piersol, Robert J. Philpot, Jr., Dianne P. Holloway, April D. Philpot, Michael Cooper, Matt Cooper, and Gina Lewis; her great-grandchildren, Robert Philpot III, Austin Philpot, Jesse Auker, Savannah Auker, Kendall Holloway, Peyton Holloway, Danielle Cooper, Nickey Cooper, Ashley Cooper and Kendall Cooper. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta, Georgia at 11:00 a.m. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
