Mr. Ben Neely Brown, Sr., age 72, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014, at his home.
Ben was born in Charleston, MS in 1942 and has lived on the coast since 1972. He was a former employee of Shell Oil Company and worked for Jackson County as the Ocean Springs Harbor Master. He attended Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jewel Brown and one grandchild, “Baby“ Brown.
Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, June Brown of Ocean Springs; brother, Billy (Shari) F. Brown of Biloxi; daughter, Allison (Craig) Brown Sanchez of Pensacola, FL; son, Ben “Neely” Brown, Jr. of Brandon; step-children, Regina Bryant Crawford of Charleston, SC; Billy (Julie Cannette) Bryant, Jr. of Latimer; and Lamar (Melissa) Bryant of Amelia Island, FL. Ben is also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Mason and Yvonne (Dale) Moran Barnum, both of Biloxi; nine grandchildren, six great-grand grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 21, from 1pm until 2pm, with a 2pm chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in D'Iberville Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank his awesome nurse, Sandra Blades, hospice for their wonderful care and Dr. Smith and Dr. Clarkson.
