Bertha Broussard Hebert

Mrs. Bertha Broussard Hebert passed away peacefully on June 11, 2013, at home surrounded by members of her family. Bertha was born in Maurice, Louisiana on December 6, 1919. As a young child she moved with her family to Biloxi where she attended Gorenflo School. She worked in the shrimp factories until the early 1950’s when she gained employment with the telephone company. For over 30 years she worked diligently, eventually becoming Chief Operator and Supervisor, while at the same time being a wife and mother of four. After retiring she traveled to various parts of the world, and devoted herself to the Legion of Mary and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Buck” Hebert; her parents, Arthur and Alice Broussard; and siblings, Feda Huval, Ozea Trahan, Pearl Bosarge and Joseph Broussard. Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte (Freeman) Clarke; her sons, Ted (Sharon) Hebert, Harry (Peggy) Hebert and Mark Hebert; her grandchildren, Eric Clarke, Jim Clarke, Stephanie (Nick) Spinucci and Amy Hebert; her great-grandson, Mason Spinucci; her brother, Arthur “Teeboy” Broussard; and her sisters, Doris Bradley and Ethel Comeaux. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to “Society of St. Vincent DePaul”, P.O. Box 4098, Biloxi, MS 39531, or OLF’s “Sacred Music Teachers Trust Fund”. The family would like to thank Dr. Dawn Hansen and her nurse, Tish for their dedicated service, and also expresses sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice Advantage for their loving care and empathy over the last two years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Patrick J. Mockler officiating. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
