Mr. Carl Daniel Germany, age 61, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, in New Orleans, LA.
Carl was born in Pascagoula, MS. He was a twelve year student and 1969 graduate of Ocean Springs High School. Carl was active in the choir and the band and wore jersey number "63" on the football team. Carl married his high school sweetheart, Nancy L. Ruspino. He graduated from Auburn University, receiving degrees in both Architecture and Environmental Design. Carl practiced architecture for more than thirty years, thirteen of those years in Fort Worth, TX. He was registered in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Florida and was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Carl was very passionate about his work. A few of his notable local projects were the major restoration of the historic L & N Train Depot, the 1927 Ocean Springs Public High School into the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center for Arts and Education and the new Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he became a member. He was also a member of the Ocean Springs Rotary, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, the Boys and Girls Club, the Heartstrings Mentoring Program at Oak Park Elementary School, the Historic Ocean Springs Association and served on the Historic Planning Commission.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Regan Germany, mother, Laura Emma "Lee Lee" Bosarge Germany and brother, Tom R. Germany, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Carl Nathaniel "Nathan" Germany, his former wife, Nancy Louise Ruspino Germany, brother, Robert Regan Germany, granddaughter, Mackenzye Ashlynn Germany, nephew, Joel R. Germany and niece Lauren Germany all of Ocean Springs, nephew, Donald Eugene Watson, Jr. of Greenville, SC and nieces, Holly Germany Madole and Kari Germany, both of California.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 5pm until 8pm at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Friday, June 28, a 9:15 am procession will leave from the Ocean Springs Chapel for a 10 am graveside jazz service at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
