Caroline Frances Ladnier Schaefer

Caroline Frances Ladnier Schaefer was born in Biloxi, MS on November 18, 1935 to the late Frank and Carrie Ladnier. She live most of her life in Biloxi and traveled to many places as an Air Force wife. She relocated to the St. Martin area from East Biloxi after Hurricane Katrina. Caroline graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1953. She was a band member for all of her high school years. She was employed at Elzey’s Hardware Store, The Bank of Mississippi, Keesler BX and the commissary, from which she retired in the 1980’s. She was a member of Keesler’s TOPS chapter. Caroline enjoyed bowling, dancing, crocheting, card games, playing bingo, bonko, pokeno, and banking. At Christmas time she would make some killer Congo Cookies. She was a devout Catholic, dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her caring heart and friendly nature. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Carrie; brother, Joseph Ladnier; and infant son, Frances Joseph Schaefer. Survivors include her husband, John (Jack) Schaefer Jr., sons, John III (Arleen), Bruce (Terri), and Norman (Sarah); daughter, Bobbi Ann Day (Richard); grandchildren, Miranda Joyner (Raymond), Michael, Natalie, Bruce II, Christopher, Alyse, Henning (Jacob), Rachel, Nathaniel, and Asher; great-grandchildren Jayden, Dylan, Andrew, Leah, Aiden, and Ethan. Relatives, friends and guest are invited to help celebrate Caroline’s life by joining us for the visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Saint Michael Catholic Church located at 177 1st Street, Biloxi, MS on Monday, June 29, 2015. A Rosary will be said from 12:00 p.m. to 12:15 p.m. followed by a Mass. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. located at 400 Veterans Avenue. Please join the family at 7140 Melon Dr., Biloxi 39532 after the service for reminiscing and remembering Caroline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Caroline’s memory to Hospice of Light, 3535 Bienville Blvd, Ocean Springs, MS 39562. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
