Carolyn Mae Pittenger

Carolyn Mae Pittenger, age 85, of Biloxi, MS, peacefully passed away with her loving son and daughter-in-law at her bedside on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Carolyn spent much of her life as a housewife and a babysitter for her neighbor’s children wherever she lived, and the places she and her family called home were many. From her birthplace of Islesboro, ME, to Revere Beach, MA, then on the long trek across the continental U.S. of A. with her husband Richard and son Michael in tow to Inglewood, CA leading up to her most treasured stop, Huntington Beach, CA, and after a lengthy stay then on to Santa Maria, CA. The next cross country journey would take her to Ft. Walton Beach, FL where Carolyn and Richard would be closer to their son and daughter in law. Then with the passing of her husband Richard H. Pittenger in 2011 she made her next move to Biloxi, MS where her son could watch over her. Her final move was in November of 2016 where she accepted the offer to move in with Michael & his wife Yvonne and together they would live out what would be her final time. Michael showed great dedication and compassion in caring for his mother Carolyn in her final months. She is survived by her brother, Keith Yeaton, wife Patsy, of Lisbon Falls,, ME, daughter, Linda Maguire, husband Edward, of Billerica, MA and son Michael D. Pittenger, wife Yvonne, of Biloxi, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laurie Maguire, Michael Maguire and Jennifer Whitfield, all of Nashua, NH and 4 great-grandchildren. Carolyn’s final journey and resting place will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, in Pensacola, FL, where she will be interred with her husband. Her son asks that because of his mother’s lifelong passion for books and for reading and later in life listening to audio books that in lieu of flowers that you make a memorial donation in her name to: Harrison County Library System, and mail donations to: Jerry Lawrence Memorial Library, 10301 Auto Mall Parkway D’Iberville, Ms 39540 ATTN: Lucienne Gautier. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O-Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
