Charlana “Lana” Marie Pickich, 36, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Lana was born in Independence, Louisiana on April 2, 1978, though she spent most of her life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She passed peacefully at her home in Biloxi, Mississippi. She is survived by her two precious sons, John David Rutherford, IV, and Lawson Christopher Pickich; her parents, Russell Latino, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama and Candace Ann Latino of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; her siblings, Carva Larie King (David) of Diamondhead, Mississippi and Russell Latino III (Anne Harlan) of Madison, Mississippi; her adoring nephews, Brodie Wayne King, Brandon Tyler King, and Russell Latino IV; grandmother, Edna Mae Morel of McNeill, MS; great grandmother, Margaret Gilbert of Belle Chase, LA; and a host of other doting family members and friends.
Lana was a genuine person – genuinely beautiful, genuinely smart, genuinely funny and genuinely caring. She was a unique combination of sass and tender-heartedness. She had no greater love in life than her “JD” and “Lawtator,” and her devotion to them is evident in what kind of extraordinary young men they have become. To them, Lana was simply “the greatest mom in the world.” Lana was a fiercely loyal and devoted mom, daughter, sister and friend, whose spunk was always good for a “belly laugh” moment. In life, and in death, she was, and is, deeply loved and will be sorely missed until the day we meet again. For the sake of her new angel neighbors, we can only hope there is Dr. Pepper in heaven.
Funeral services will be held at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on 675 Howard Avenue in Biloxi, Mississippi on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will precede the service from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held for family following at D’Iberville Memorial Park, 11040 Gorenflo Road, D’Iberville, Mississippi. The family thanks everyone for their love, support and prayers at this trying time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.
