Mr. Charles (Chuck) Aldrich, age 81, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 in Ocean Springs.
A native of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Mr. Aldrich was a resident of the Coast for over 50 years. He first arrived in 1956 as an airman at Keesler Air Force Base, and subsequently made the Coast his home.
He was the owner of Aldrich Insurance in Biloxi for 22 years, and worked in the insurance industry for 55 years. In 1998, he received the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Mississippi Agent of the Year Award.
In the 1970s, he was The Voice of the Greyhounds, announcing Ocean Springs High School football games on WOSM. He served as President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast in 1990 and received the Man/Youth Award in recognition of his contributions. He also received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Mississippi Area Council of the Boys and Girls Club in 1992 while serving as Council Chair of the statewide organization. In addition, he was a member of the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Biloxi Elks and a member of the Biloxi Businessmen’s club for over 40 years. He was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church since 1958 and active in the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Alice Lovell Aldrich.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marjorie (Marge) Aldrich; three sons, Kevin (Ali) Aldrich, Eric (Liz) Aldrich and Scot Aldrich; sister, Frances Sharpe; cousins, Alice Homer and Shirley Monroe; nine nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, Melissa Aldrich, Charles Wendell Aldrich (Autumn), Ellas Aldrich Waldrop (Zac), Chris Aldrich (Emily),Marshall Aldrich, Ryan Aldrich and Zachary Aldrich; four step-grandchildren, Jesse Robinson, Alex Robinson, Andie Sunday, Shannon Brink; and one great grandchild, Abigail Aldrich.
Reception will be held on Thursday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service following at 11:30 a.m., all at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast or St. John’s Episcopal Church.
