Mr. Lawson "Cigar" Sam Bang, age 80, of Vancleave, MS, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, in Ocean Springs, MS.
He was born on June 9, 1937, was a lifelong resident of Vancleave and retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula as a rigger. Sam had a deep passion for deer hunting and turkey hunting. He was a faithful member of Vancleave Holiness Church.
Mr. Bang was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Bang; daughter, Melba Jean Davis, sons, Sammy Lee Bang and Timmy Bang and his parents, Hesiakah (Babe) and Lula Bang.
Survivors include his daughters, Terri Faye (John Lee) Mason, Brenda (Esteban) Gonzalez and Beachell (Harvie) Collins, son-in-law, Adam Davis, daughter-in-law, Serilda Bang, brothers, Bud (Kathy) Bang, Ras "Booster" (Peggy) Bang, sisters, Shirley White, Patty Williams, Myrtle Waltman, Annie (Jack) Covacevich, grandchildren, Jonathan Mason, Virginia (Josh) Priddy, Katie (Cody) Seymour, Sarah (Gerris) Davis, Lucy (Joseph) Rushing, Jacob Davis, Harold Collins, Samantha Collins, Tristian, Dawson and Brandon Bang, great-grandchildren, Savannah, Bethany and Emma Grace Priddy, Zoe Robinson and Baby Seymour due in January, a large host of nieces and nephews and a very special nephew, Lynn Ely.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 3, from 11am until 12 noon, with a 12 noon chapel service, all at Vancleave Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Beulah Cemetery.
