Daniel R. Smith, Sr., age 75 passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018.
Mr. Smith was a longtime resident of D’Iberville, MS. He retired from Keesler Air Force Base as a MSgt after serving 20 years, with an honorable discharge. He received numerous medals, awards and plaques for his honorable service. He was an instructor at Jones Hall at KAFB. He was awarded Instructor of the month in 1977 and 3410 Technical Training Group outstanding service August 83-August 84. Daniel and Gail traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe. He was an avid reader and researcher of all things on the computer. He had his own band while stationed in Turkey, playing the guitar and singing. He sang on a radio show at the age of 10 and won top prize with a blue ribbon medal singing “Oh Danny Boy”.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Gail M Smith; his sons, Daniel R. Smith, Jr. and Gregory J. Smith; daughters-in-law, Linda Smith and Stacey Smith; and grandchildren, Skylar Danielle Smith and Collin Netto.
Burial will be held with Full Military Honors at the Biloxi National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11:00 am.
