Delores Marie Fayard

Delores Marie Fayard was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, on September 2, 1955. She was married to Keith Charles Fayard for thirty-six years. She is survived by three daughters, Nicole, Amanda, and Tiffany Anne; and three grandchildren, Morgan, Hayden, and Colbie. She is preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Arceneaux, her father and mother-in-law, Elvis and Marie Fayard, James Matthew Fayard Sr., and James Matthew Fayard, Jr. Delores graduated from D’Iberville High School in 1973. She married Keith in 1976, which was the same year they purchased the meat market in the D’Iberville Curb Market. Delores and Marie started making sandwiches and poboys for the lunch crowd and weekend sportsman and fishers, never knowing this would be the humble beginnings for the Fayard’s BP stores today. Every Fayard’s BP on the coast has been touched by her pride in the Fayard family name, her delicious recipes and sandwich creations, and her kindness bestowed on the customers, vendors, and employees throughout the years. Delores and Marie’s BP on Popps Ferry Road was named in honor of her and her mother-in-law, Marie Fayard’s many years of dedication, commitment, and passion during the building of the BP stores. Delores was the President of Fayard’s Poboys Inc. and Vice-President of Fayard’s Brothers Inc. Delores was a life-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she assisted her mother-in-law with the Bingo and also tirelessly worked on making the annual Draw Down a success by securing donations and door prizes. Additionally, she made sure the Fayard’s BP stores supported local athletic clubs. Her generosity was widely known and respected by the community. If she had any extra time in her day, she spent that with her grandchildren and her beautiful gardens. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul Pavlov for his caring service and extra patience during her illness. Also, we would like to give a sincere heart-felt thank you to the clergy that visited the hospital and our home, and the love and kindness of Sister’s Kim and Julia-Marie shown to Delores and her family. In lieu of flowers, Delores requested that any donations be sent to Sacred Heart Elementary School. A graveside service will be held at D'Iberville Memorial Park on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
