Delores Theresa Theda Romero Radich

Delores Theresa Theda Romero Radich departed this wonderful life and went to her heavenly reward on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 4:50 a.m. at Ocean Springs Hospital. Doe was born on Back Bay and raised on Point Caddy by her parents, Edvard and Edith (Noo-Noon) Romero, who are both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her two older sisters and their husbands, Dot (Matre) Polovich and Jean (Steve) Brosh; and a much loved grandson, Jared Radich. Delores is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John G. “Hack” Radich; sons, John, Gregory (Elisa), and Marc, all from St. Martin. She had a house full of grand and great-grandchildren, as she would say, all are beautiful and handsome. Maw-maws loves were Linsey, Kaylee, Nick, Derek (Shari), Lily, Ananabel, Ty, Anna, Jim (Jenna), Piper and twins Silas and Greenlee. Also, Jim and his family, residents of South Bend, Indiana, where he is seeking his doctor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at Notre Dame. She also leaves behind, Chad (Christy), Lexie and Aliyah. Chad is a Staff Sergeant in the Marines. Chad and Christy’s daughter, Lexie, was born in the same clinic as Chad’s dad and Uncle John. Greg and John M. were born in the Naval Clinic on the U.S. Marine Air Base in Cherry Point, NC, where John and Doe were stationed. Doe worked at Ellzey’s General Store in the office while a student at Biloxi High School. At Biloxi High she was the 1949 Homecoming Queen and a very beautiful one in her white dress with her flaming red hair. She was quick in letting you know her name wasn’t red. One fella that loved her red hair and freckles was her future husband. Doe and John were married by Fr. D.J. O’Hanlon at St. Michael Catholic Church on the point. After graduating in 1950, she and John made residence at Cherry Point Air Station for three years. They moved back to Biloxi and lived there until 1963. They then moved to the St. Martin Community, which they now call home. Doe loved her casino trips. She could easily stay gone half a day. Her big love in the games was bingo. She would walk across town to play bingo. When she lost, her famous saying was “I ain’t going back.” That was until the next time. Next week, she won. She was happy. Doe was very active in supporting the schools, the summer programs and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and worked the Parish Bazar for many years. Doe and Hack traveled in many directions. Mexico was a favorite. They drove to Mexico City on one trip. They went on three cruises and traveled extensively with the golden age group. Her favorite was Branson, MO, next the Cajun Festival in Lafayette, LA; which had lots of good Cajun food, good Cajun music and lots of dancing. An old saying which was her favorite is “If you want to make a Cajun mad, tie his feet when the band was playing.” That was very truthful. It fit her to the “T”. Doe spoke French fluently. Our dearest darling was sweet on the inside and outside and we loved her very much and she will always remain in our hearts. Good-by our love, for now; we will meet again. The family prefers donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy, PO Box 1228, Biloxi, MS 39533. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m., where friends may visit 1 hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe is in charge of arrangements. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com
