Donald "Don" Naquin

Mr. Donald (Don) Naquin, age 83, of Vancleave, MS, passed away and went to be with the Lord, peacefully at home, on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, surrounded by his family. Don was born March 9, 1932 in Mobile, Alabama, later moving to Mississippi and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, MS. He attended OLV High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950 during the Korean War and served two tours of duty as a Forward Observer of the Field Artillery. After his days in the military, Don was employed with the Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base for 35 years. During his time with the Civil Service, he traveled world wide in his field of troubleshooting ground to air radar towers. Upon retirement from Civil Service, he and his wife had a very successful small design and build construction business (Creative Homes Inc.) from which he retired in 2001. Don was a quiet man and did not like talking on the phone. His first passion was anything that would allow him to be working outside, maintaining the lawn, gardening or working with his tractor. He also loved to travel in his motorhome. Don had six beautiful and talented children that he loved so much and was so proud of them. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Woolmarket, MS and a member of the Agape Bible Study Class. Don loved the Lord and gave his life to Christ as a very young man. He was a wonderful father to his six children and a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Candis. He was preceded in death by his parents C.P. Naquin, Sr. and Bessie Rourke Naquin, his step-mother Ruth Martin Naquin, a sister, Teta Naquin Cauley, a daughter Pamela Renee Varos of Hammond, LA and his only son, Randy Edward Naquin of Pascagoula. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Candis, his daughters Donna Moody (Rick), of Denver, Colorado, Rhonda Cauley (Steve) of Grand Bay, AL, Kimberly Gathwright (Rick) of Grand Bay, AL, Lisa Naquin, Glen Mills, PA., his sister, Claire Naquin Grimme and brother C.P. Naquin, Jr., (Sonny), both of Pascagoula, MS., 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, May 15, from 10 am until 11 am, with an 11 am chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Dr. Argile Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow in Vancleave #1 Cemetery, Jim Ramsey Road, Vancleave, MS.
