Mrs. Eleanor Gum, 93, of North Biloxi, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Biloxi.
Mrs. Gum was the wife of the late Norton Gum. She was a lifelong resident of North Biloxi and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mrs. Gum is preceded in death by her husband, Norton Gum; her grandsons, Larry Derouen, Jr., Lil Keith Derouen and Gordon Lightsey; her sisters, Florance Richard, Bertha Boney and Vernia Bosarge; her brothers, Alphonse Groue, Jr. and Roy Groue; and her first husband and father of her children, August Derouen.
Survivors include her sons, August (Janet) Derouen, Jr., Larry (Genice) Derouen, Darney Derouen and Keith (Iris) Derouen; her step-daughter, Ann (Charlie) Schultz; her fourteen grandchildren; her thirty-one great-grandchildren; and her five great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Mrs. Gum’s caretakers, Karen Newkerk, Mama Karen, and the staff at Saads Hospice and Lemoyne Place staff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow at Groue Family Cemetery.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
