Elizabeth Sue Adams Chinnock, age 87, died Friday, February 27, 2015. She was a resident of Biloxi for 54 years. She was a graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park, FL in 1949 and interned as a Medical Technologist at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. She was a Certified Medical Technologist for over 50 years. She worked at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA, and Keesler AFB Medical Center in Biloxi; taking time off to raise her children then resuming her career at Gulf Coast Community Hospital and retiring from the Biloxi V A Medical Hospital. Mrs. Chinnock was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for over 50 years. She was the former president and member of Phi Mu Fraternity and former president and member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She was active in the Easter seals and March of Dimes campaigns, served a term on the board of the Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center, was an active member of NARFE, and an active member of the NRA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Biloxi and various other civic and social organizations.
Mrs. Chinnock was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harmon Chinnock; infant son, Thomas Adams Chinnock; and her parents, Eural E. Adams and Emma Stallings Adams. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah (Robert) Dahl of Loxahatchee, FL, Helen (Alvis) Barrington of Slidell, LA, and Julia (James) Redmond of Chesapeake, VA; sisters, Lois Miller of Atlanta, GA and Marcia Fiavoranti of Casselberry, FL; brother, Eugene Adams of Jefferson GA; Grandchildren, James Aaron Redmond, Julianne (Charles Sabella) Davis, Ashley (Tommy) Pistolis, Candace Redmond, Kristen Redmond, Jillian Barrington, and Jodie (Damian) Burlett; and eight great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Regina Mills for the loving care she provided for our mother, one of her most challenging and well-informed patients, for the past 26 years. Our unending gratitude to Dr. Ben Yarbrough and the staff at Franklin County Memorial hospital for their positive and personal care of our mother. The small hospital with a big heart who became like family.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908, or the MS Special Olympics.
Funeral services will be 11:15 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Biloxi where friends may visit for 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
