Elizabeth “Betty” Desporte, age 82, went to glory Saturday, February 7, 2015.
Betty was born in San Diego, CA and moved to the Gulf Coast after her husband left the Navy in 1952. After raising 5 children, she joined her husband in his family’s business, Avenue Bake Shop on Howard Avenue in Biloxi. She led a very active life and touched lives in everything that she did. Betty had great faith in God and devotion to her Lord. She was a great example to her family of how to live for God. She lived her faith and served through her beloved church, North Side Assembly of God.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew L. Desporte; sons, Michael Desporte, Sr. and Dennis Desporte, Sr.; and parents, Henry and Ada Gross.
Survivors include her daughter, Vivian Roche; sons, Rodney Desporte and Philip Desporte; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 5pm-8pm with a service on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 10am all at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
