Elsie L Wixon

Mrs. Elsie Elizabeth Wixon, age 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at her home in Gulfport, MS. She was born to the late Alvin Landry and Lorena Elizabeth Ourso Landry on July 23, 1918, in Plaquemine, LA. Elsie was the wife of the deceased Kelly E. Wixon. She and her husband lived the majority of their lives in Baton Rouge, LA. During this time, Elsie was a sales associate for Sears, where she received many “top sales” awards during her career. She was a long time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She and her husband were very active in the church, and loved serving the Lord. Family and friends were Elsie’s love and joy. She loved to cook and spoiled her family with her delicious recipes. She touched many people’s lives with a simple gesture of love and appreciation by baking them one of her wonderful cakes. Her thoughts were “it’s the little things in life that count.” Elsie will be remembered for her acts of kindness, soft touch and her smile. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Wixon Jones (William L. Jones), two grandchildren, Kelli Fore Morrow (Tony Morrow) and Pat Fore III (Tricia Fore) along with two step-grandchildren she loved dearly, Tim Jones (Bonnie Jones) and David Jones (Kelly Jones). Elsie had ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband and her two infant sons; Kelley E. Wixon and Michael E. Wixon. The family had a small viewing/visitation on Friday, September 02, 2016 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road in Gulfport, MS. Elsie will be laid to rest by her best friend and husband on Saturday, September 03, 2016 at Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge, LA. The family wishes to thank all of those who have cared for her. She will be missed by many family members and friends.
