Emily Ann Germanis, age 74, passed away suddenly at her residence in Biloxi, MS on August 31, 2016. She was of the Catholic Faith and attended mass at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Emily was born in Biloxi. She attended Sacred Heart Academy and Gulf Park College. Upon graduation, she was employed as a reporter for the Daily Herald. Later, she was editor of the USM Alumni Newsletter. Emily was Shrimp Queen during the 1960 Shrimp Festival. She had a great appreciation of the arts and her true love was Coast Community Concerts, serving as vice president for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus P. Germanis and Mae Bourgeois Germanis; brother, Louis P. Germanis; uncle, Nicholas Germanis; and her special friend, Lloyd Pellerin.
She is survived by her sister Marcella (Edward) Covacevich; nieces, Mari (Glenn) Sablich, Cathy Bienvenue, Maria (Bill) Davies; nephews, Michael (Audrey) Germanis, Kevin (Sonja) Covacevich, Kenneth Covacevich and David Covacevich.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
