Emily Erhard Turan, 88 of Pass Christian and Gulfport, left this life on July 3, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Mary Erhard, her husband, Walter T. Foley, and infant son, Richard John Foley, and her former husband, Harmon Turan. She was predeceased by all of her siblings, John T. , Francis, and Val Erhard, Elise Woodall, and Norma Rookis.
Mourning her loss are Emily’s children, Norma Foley Ladner (C.J.), Carol M. Foley, Richard T. Foley (J.J.), Deborah Turan Landry, and step-daughter, Linda Crocker (Wayne). Emily dearly loved her grandchildren, Catherine Adams (Clint), Michele Mills (Brent), Brian Ladner (Christine), Elizabeth Hegwood (Jared), Caroline Foley, Emily Foley, Tommy Foley, Will Foley, Justin Fayard (Kristen), Alan Davis (Gail), and Brandy Davis. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, Aengus, Simon, and Elise Adams, Hayden and Brady Mills, Katie, Josh, Andrew, and Matthew Ladner, Jackson and Dylan Hegwood, Ava Fayard, and Trey and Will Davis. Her many nieces, nephews, and friends brought great joy into her life.
Emily was born and raised in Mississippi City and graduated from Gulfport High School. She worked as a secretary early in her life, but her main occupation throughout the years was caring for her family.
Emily enjoyed being a member of the Nereids Carnival Crew and the Bay-Waveland Yacht Club.
A member of St. James Catholic Church, Emily helped with the St. Vincent De Paul Society, served on the bereavement committee, and volunteered in the office of St. James Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour before the mass. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society through St. James Church, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport 39507.
