Mrs. Erah Cole Thweatt, age 102, of Vancleave, MS went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Erah was born in Gurdon, AR, raised in Sparkman, AR and graduated from Sparkman High School in 1930. She attended Henderson State College in Arkadelphia, AR.
Prior to moving to Vancleave, MS in 1972, Erah lived in Natchez, MS. There she was an active member and organist for Immanuel Baptist Church, taught Kindergarten at Montebello School, taught piano lessons and worked for several years at NAPA Auto Parts as a bookkeeper. In Vancleave she played the piano at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church and Pine Lake Baptist Church and also worked for Millette Insurance as a bookkeeper. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, fishing, traveling and spoiling her cat.
Erah was preceded in death by her husband, William Owen Thweatt, parents, John Bearden and Lillie Mae Cole and sisters, Rozaleigh Erickson and Mayble Goodier.
Survivors include her children, Rosalyn (Paul) Mann of Helotes, TX and Mary (Jerry) Wise of Vancleave, grandchildren, Tammy (Stephen) Mixon of Franklinton, LA, Laura Tamayo of Helotes, TX, Bill (Katie) Wise of Vancleave and Bill (Erin) Mann of Atlanta, GA, nine great-grandchildren and a niece, Peggy (Jim) Cronin of Spanish Fort, AL.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 18 at 10:00 AM with the celebration of her life to follow at 11:00 AM at Pine Lake Baptist Church in Vancleave, Reverend Brian Miller officiating.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff of Sunplex Subacute and Gentiva Hospice for the kind, loving care given to Erah.
