Mrs. Eula Mae (Miller) Paul, a native of New Orleans, LA, a longtime resident of Gulfport, MS, and a resident of San Antonio, TX since 2006, passed away on the evening of Thursday, August 29, 2013, at North Central Baptist Hospital after a valiant and heroic efforts in her home by Bulverde TX paramedics. She died at the age of 82 after a three-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born on May 25, 1931, near Labadieville, LA. In addition to being a widely traveled wife and mother in a military family for 21 years, including living in Fontainebleau, France, and Soesterberg, Netherlands, Eula and her family set roots in Gulfport, MS, where she worked over 20 years as a teacher and librarian for the Harrison County School District. After moving to Gulfport in 1967, there was much work to be done, so she was very active in her community. However, her greatest work was the blessing of her loving spirit. She gave her family her devotion and her teachings; she brought a bubbly life to conversation. She was a devout Christian, and after moving to San Antonio, became a member of the North Central Christian Church. Eula is survived by her three children: Cloy C. Paul, Jr. of San Antonio; Karen Paul Wilson and her husband Colonel Bennie J. Wilson III (USAF, Ret.) of San Antonio; and Marie Paul Fields and her companion DeWayne V. Brown of Birmingham, AL. The whereabouts of her fourth child, Eric M. Paul, has not been known since 1995. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Benét J. Wilson and her companion Dion V. Wright of Baltimore, MD; Claressa D. Wilson of Sacramento, CA, Michael Paul Fields and his wife Jaime of Birmingham, AL, and Marichelle A. Fields of Birmingham, AL; her great grandchildren: Xavier Lawrence and Gabriel Burch of Birmingham, AL, Claressa D. Wilson-Wright of Baltimore MD, and Giavanni O. Wilson of Sacramento, CA; her aunt, Irma Washington Johnson of Thibodaux, LA; her half-sisters: Edna M. Jones of Houston, TX, Louise Johnson and Genevieve Slack of Thibodaux, LA, Gertrude Williams and Sarah Williams of Labadieville, LA, Elnora Harris and Ethyl Harris of Baton Rouge, LA, and Daisy Cox of Napoleonville, LA; her cousin Joseph “Paran” Miller of New Orleans, LA; her sister-in-law Mrs. (Lory) Vera Miller of Marrero, LA; and her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Letha Paul Barrad of Morgan City, LA, Lucretia Paul LaVigne of Oakland, CA, Hazel Paul Poplus of New Orleans, LA, and Edward “Joe” Paul and his wife Marva of Franklin, LA; and many other beloved relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Technical Sergeant Cloy C. Paul, Sr. (USAF, Ret.) of Verdunville, LA, on June 18, 1996; her parents, Gertrude and Clarence Miller, Sr.; her aunt, Sylvia “Mother” Mitchell, and Matthew “Papa” Berry; her stepmother, Edna M. Miller; her sister, Mary Miller Van Buren; and her three brothers, Lawrence Miller, Lory Miller and Clarence Miller, Jr. A memorial service was held on Friday, September 6, at the North Central Christian Church in San Antonio, TX, officiated by Pastor Don Tuttle. Funeral preparations and transportation arrangements to Biloxi were made by Porter Loring Mortuaries of San Antonio, TX. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Homes of Mississippi is arranging gravesite funeral service and burial at the Biloxi Veterans’ National Cemetery on Friday, September 13, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the Annex Building of the First Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 East Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
