Eulalie Boney Balius, age 92 of Perkinston, Mississippi passed away at her home on March 26, 2018. She was born to Lee Roy Boney and Clemorse Campos Boney on May 3, 1925. She lived the majority of her life in Biloxi before moving to Stone County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Clemorse Boney; loving husband, Leon Paul Balius, Sr.; her brothers – J.C. Boney of Texas, Lee Boney, Sr. of D’Iberville, and Dennis “Perch” Boney of D’Iberville; and sister – Joyce Boney Thibodeaux of Biloxi.
She is survived by her children, Leon Paul (Charlotte) Balius, Jr. of Biloxi; Susan Claire (Morris) Sekul of Biloxi; Chester Joseph Balius of Perkinston. She also leaves behind her brothers: John Ryland Boney of D’Iberville and Clement Boney of Mobile, Alabama and her sister, Rosalie Fisher, of Gulfport, Mississippi; and grandchildren: Tracie Balius Bosco, Jennifer Sekul Harris, Marissa Sekul Jones, Candace Balius, Toni Balius, Chester Balius, III, and Chela Roberts; great-grandchildren: Nicholas Harris, Kadie Harris, D.J. Pate, Daniel Pate, Jamie Tate, and Katelyn J. Balius. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Ms. Balius was a homemaker and you could often find her working in her garden and flower beds. She also loved to hunt, hike around Red Creek Wildlife Management Area with her friends and grandchildren, as well as swimming in Red Creek. She was a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Wiggins, Mississippi. As she aged, her nickname became “Sophia” after the Golden Girls character.
Based upon her wishes, the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A private service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at her home with interment at the Balius Family Cemetery.
