Floyd Haynes Sears, age 82 entered into the higher realm with Christ on Wednesday 6/5/2013 while undergoing heart surgery. Mr. Sears was born in Gloucester County, VA, in the Harcum community.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Frances (Fran) Sears, his father Clarence Sears, his mother Martha Sears, and his siblings Jackie Renear and Wilmer Sears.
Mr. Sears is survived by his sister Shirley Bailey and brother Herman Sears, his sons Gary Sears and Steven Sears, and Grandchildren Adam, Taylor, and Kelly Sears.
Mr. Sears was a United States Air Force military retiree veteran serving 20 years during the Korean conflict and the war in Vietnam. He retired from the USAF in 1971. After his 20 years of service in the USAF, Mr. Sears worked in the Pascagoula Shipyard retiring in 1994 as a computer programmer. After his retirement from the shipyard Mr. Sears spent the remainder of his life fighting the government, trying to regain the after retirement medical care he and his fellow military retirees were promise for serving at least 20 years in the military. He developed many web pages and wrote many programs in support of this effort. .
Mr. Sears favorite sport was golf. He also liked to camp out. He was very organized in everything he planned and never gave up.
We will miss our beloved father, grandfather and friend. The love he has given to all during his life will be cherished for eternity.
Services will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on Pass Road in Biloxi beginning with a visitation at 10:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:30. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
