Jeanette Tramuta passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2014. She had been courageously and tirelessly giving it her all, recovering from surgery.
Born and raised in Paulding, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Herbie and Eddie Lee Dearman who preceded her in death along with her brothers Henry, Doug and Dallas Dearman. She is survived by a sister Shirley (Bubba) Shumock and her loving and dedicated husband, Joseph Tramuta. Six daughters: ReGina LaRosa, Kathy Caldwell, Carol (Danny) Steele, Judy Rivera (Russell Rauanheimo), Mary (Mike) Boudreaux and Jane Tramuta (Walter Mays). Three sons: Larry (Laura) Kilpatrick, Danny (Marie) Kilpatrick and Joe (Terry) Tramuta. 13 grandchildren: Lee, Ethan, Eli, Evan and Elizabeth Kilpatrick, Joey and Elizabeth Tramuta, Brent and Christy Caldwell, Chris and Amanda Steele, Jeremy Rivera, Michelle Boudreaux. She was blessed with a host of nieces and nephews.
As a young, divorced, single mother of three, she accepted the challenge of raising her children, working long hours, and all the while completing nursing school. She bought a home independently, fearlessly began a 40 year nursing career and on her own, maintained a household.
Her second husband Joe became the love of her life and a dedicated father to her children. In retirement Jeanette’s passion for serving her Lord and others led her to volunteer with many organizations. Among these especially meaningful to her was The Gulf Coast Bluebird Association that serves adult cancer patients. Her most recent endeavor was to help restore families as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate, with a very special place in her heart for children from broken homes.
Jeanette’s connection with nature was evident throughout her life by bountiful vegetable gardens religiously planted every year, beautiful exotic plant collections and her passion for native trees. We only have to look at trees, gardens and flowers to feel her presence. She loved spending time with family and friends, reading a good book, engaging conversations and giving her opinion. Jeanette spoke her mind, had the courage of her convictions, was loved and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th St. Gulfport. The funeral service will follow at 12:15 p.m. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
