Frankie P. Barhonovich

Frankie P. Barhonovich, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Holy Thursday, April 2, 2015. He was born in Biloxi on October 14, 1928, and was a lifelong resident of "Point Cadet." His life was devoted to God, his family, and assistance to others. Frankie owned and operated Progress Printing Company for 57 years. As a devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church, he served God and parish community in many capacities, some of which were: St. Vincent de Paul, Parish Council, Eucharistic Minister, St. Michael Choir, Legion of Mary, and Building Committee of the present day St. Michael Church. He worked tirelessly to support our Catholic schools and was an avid sports fan. Frankie, being of Croatian heritage, was a member of the Slavonian Benevolent Association. He found great joy in carrying on their many traditions, which included his annual Baccala Dinner held for family and friends for over 30 years. His dedication and unconditional love for his entire family was known by all. They were the pride and joy of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mira (Kovacevich) Barhonovich; father-in-law, Henry, and mother-in-law, Isabelle (Sumrall) Lechner; infant daughter, Theresa Marie Barhonovich; infant son, Frank P. Barhonovich; daughter, Victoria Marie Barhonovich; brothers, Anthony "Tony" (Ruth), John "Jinx" (Gladys), and Peter Matre Barhonovich; sisters, Marie "Mamie" Jurich (Mutt) and Antonia "Nina" Barhonovich; brothers-in-law, George, Edward, Gregory "Jr" (Mary), and John Lechner; and several nieces and nephews. Frankie is survived by his most precious gift from God, his loving wife of 64 years Amelia Lechner Barhonovich; daughters, Jéanne Marie Barhonovich Baker and Kathy Barhonovich Lang (Jay); sons, Joseph Mario Barhonovich and Frank P. Barhonovich III (Beth); grandchild/son, Richard Barhonovich; grandchildren, Carolyn Senseney Fisher (Ryan), Jacqueline Baker Lewis (Zach), Jenna Marie and Jane-Claire Baker, JJ Lang (Kristen), Jonathan Lang, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Aaron Barhonovich; great-grandchildren, Madison, Abigail, and Tanner Fisher, Richard, Brady, and Victoria Barhonovich, Leah and Carson Barhonovich, and Cade Lewis; sisters-in-law, Annette Barhonovich, Dolores Lechner, and Gloria Lechner; and several loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Residence at Bay Cove, SAAD's Home Healthcare, Pinnacle Hospice, our dear friends Dr. Paul Pavlov and Twy, and our family and friends for their loving care and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church: 177 First Street, Biloxi. Friends and family may visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Biloxi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Michael Life Center Building Fund or St. Vincent de Paul both located at 177 First Street, Biloxi, MS 39530. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
