Franklin Edward “Rosie” Rosenburgh, age 88, passed away on March 19, 2018, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS. Rosie was born in Natick, MA on January 15, 1930, to Richard Rosenburgh and Louise Sehnert. He was the youngest of four brothers, and preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Durwood and Stanley. Rosie joined the Navy in 1947 and spent the next 21 years, where he retired a Chief Petty Officer in 1968. During his years in the Navy, Rosie met Sylvia and they married in 1952. Together, they had five children; Linda Milroy, Catherine Parker, Diana Veitch, Kenneth Rosenburgh (Leticia), Jessica Henderson (James). He has 14 grandchildren, Douglas, Leslye; Christopher (Rachel); Jeremy, Patrick, Shannon, Stephanie, Kyle; Steven, Calvin, Kenzy, Aaron; Cody (Dallas), Dakota; and 9 great-grandchildren, Sara, Rachel, Brynleigh; Kaytlinn, Karen, Olivia; Savannah, Luke, Emma. When Rosie retired from the Navy, he worked for Sears in Pensacola, FL as an HVAC Repairman. He then opened his own business repairing Televisions, and HVAC systems for the residents of Pensacola. Rosie was a key figure in the start of the Volunteer Fire Department in Pleasant Grove, Florida, and was the Chief for many years. He and Sylvia were also a founding members of the First United Methodist Church in Pleasant Grove. In 2005, Rosie married Geraldine Eberl and together, they spent the next 7 years enjoying each other’s company at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, until 2012 when Rosie lost his best friend. During his time at the AFRH, Rosie lobbied for a putting green to be built and when it was completed, he dedicated a bench to his brothers and Gerri there. As an avid golfer, Rosie spent many years on the golf course and then upon retirement, the putting green that he helped install for the residents of the AFRH. Rosie is loved and will be missed by his children; family, both by blood and extended, and the many friends he made in his lifetime. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
