Fred Thomas Gaughf of Saucier, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013 in Gulfport at the age of 83.
Fred was born on April 23rd in the year 1930. He was a native of the Madison-Ridgeland area of Mississippi and a lifelong resident on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Fred joined the United States Air Force in 1948 and retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty years of faithful service and traveling the world. He later attended the Preston Rhodes School of Preaching in Dallas, Texas and returned to Mississippi to serve as the minister of Wiggins Church of Christ. He was also a parts manager at Loftus Equipment in Gulfport. Upon final retirement, Fred enjoyed his years caring for his wife, spending time with his many granddaughters and great grandchildren, and serving the Lord at Saucier Church of Christ. His loving daughter, Stephanie and her family cared for him in his final years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laither Delon Gaughf and Pearl Eloise Gaughf; his brothers, LD, Bobby Wayne, and Jerry; and his sisters, Eloise McCoy and Carrie Wallace.
Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laverna Ladner Gaughf; his children, Bruce Dwayne Gaughf (Kim) and Stephanie Dionne Geist (Don); his granddaughters, Alyssia Nicole Kirkhart (Greg), Ashley Geist Kerr (Jon), Megan Elizabeth Geist (Carlo), Heather Diane Geist, Erin Leigh Geist and Brooke Marie Geist; his great grandchildren, Madalynn Grace Kerr, Marleigh Anna Kerr, Jacob Kirkhart and Patton Thomas Geist; and his siblings, Jackie Gaughf (Florene), Wallace Gaughf (Jane) and Edith Waldrop (Bill).
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and funeral service on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. all at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road in Gulfport. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
