Freda Margaret Garlotte Barnes

Freda Margaret Garlotte Barnes, 92, of Biloxi, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 in Ocean Springs. Freda was born in Biloxi and remained a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. She was a loving wife and mother who was devoted to her family. She was generous with her time, volunteering through the VFW Womens Auxillary serving and helping veterans. Freda was recognized by the VA and received numerous awards for her service. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Hubert E. Barnes; son, Wayne “Buster” Barnes; parents, Delta and Dewey Garlotte, Sr.; brother, Benjamin Garlotte and a daughter-in-law, Susan Barnes. Freda is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lloyd; two sons, Phillip (Ellen) Barnes and David (Kimberly) Barnes; two sisters, Joyce DeSilvey and Wilda Horne; two brothers, Wesley Garlotte and Dewey Garlotte, Jr.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00am at Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
