George Patrick Ladd

George Ladd, age 78, of Ocean Springs died Monday, June 17, 2013. Mr. Ladd was a resident of Ocean Springs since 1976. He was born and raised in Boston, MA and was a loyal Red Sox fan. He was also a fan of the New Orleans Saints. He married Dora O’Sullivan on December 29, 1958. He entered the United States Air Force in 1954 and retired in 1979 as a Master Sergeant and Chief of Military Pay at Keesler Air Force Base. He was later employed for twenty three years by the State of Mississippi Tax Commission and retired as a Tax Specialist 2002. George was a 1976 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. He was an active member of BPOE 2501 in Ocean Springs where he served as a trustee there from 1999-2003. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie 4194 in Cedar Key, Florida and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic church for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine Ladd, and his brother, Stephen Ladd. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty four years, Dora Ladd and his three sons, Michael, Bill, & Kevin. George and Dora were devoted to their children and their fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; who were a big part of their lives. One of his greatest joys was telling them jokes and teasing them. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home with the Elks Service of Remembrance beginning at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Tom White, 10 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow with full military honors at Crestlawn Memorial Park all under the direction of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs.
