Glenn B. Hammontree, Jr., age 90, of Gulfport died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in Gulfport. He was born in Kansas City, MO and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1943. He retired from Gulf Coast Paint & Chemical after 23 years of service and was also the former Jewelry Department Manager at Wilson’s. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and former President of Gulf Coast Archery Club and MS Archery Club.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Richard Michael Hammontree and Timothy Cumberland.
Mr. Hammontree is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edwina “Pinky” Moran Hammontree; three sons, Glenn W. Hammontree (Annette), Mike Hammontree (Sandra) and Richard H. Hammontree (Stephanie); eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandson.
The graveside service will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
