Gloria Kirby Kay, 76, passed away February 3, 2016, a native of Bogalusa, LA. She resided in Kiln, MS and Baton Rouge, LA. Gloria was a very family oriented and fun loving Christian woman. She was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, where she received her Master degree in Physical Education and her minor in English. Gloria was the Southeastern Louisiana University head Majorette Captain and featured fire baton twirler. She was the LSU Golden Girl choreographer and director in past years. She was a formal wear gown designer and business owner of Gloria’s Fashions and was also the designer for the Miss America and Miss USA pageants. As well as being awarded the prestigious “Designer of the Year Award” in New York City. Gloria’s hobbies were song writing and acting. She was affectionally as known as MiMi to her many grandchildren. Gloria was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mildred Kirby; brother, Richard Kirby and sister, Gerry Kirby Shaffer.
She is survived by her first daughter, Traci Ruddick Brignac and second daughter, Sheree Bailey Puckett; her grandchildren: Brittany, Brennon, Brooke and Brohn Brignac, Courtney Smith and Bailey Puckett; great grandchild, Bristol DeVall.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Pass Road Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:15pm.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 1:30pm at Biloxi National Cemetery.
