Harris B. Evans

Dr. Harris B. Evans, 62, of Gulfport, MS, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, in Gulfport. Dr. Evans was born in Jackson, MS and had been a resident of the MS Gulf Coast since 1997. Dr. Evans began his career in his family's clothing stores, "Benards". At the age of 35 he decided to pursue a lifelong ambition and studied to become a medical doctor. He received his under graduate degree at Millsaps College and graduated from Tulane Medical School. He practiced internal medicine for over 15 years in Long Beach and was on staff at Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport. He was of the Jewish faith. Dr. Evans is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon Evans; two brothers, Mark (Susan) Evans, and Bruce (Rosalind) Evans; and three pet cats, Boston, Bindy Sue and Chloe. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to the Jewish Children's Regional Services Fund, P. O. Box 7368, Metairie, LA 70010. Private services will be held. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
