Mrs. Helen Barras, age 88, of Biloxi, MS. was taken by the holy angels to her heavenly father, on July 5, 2012.
Helen was born in Henry, Louisiana and later moved to Biloxi with her parents, George and Theozia Lee. She was married to Mabry Barras for 51 years and the two travelled around the United States while Mabry was enlisted in the United States Air Force. Although Helen had no children, she was loved by many and known to all as "Aunt Helen". She was a member of St. John's Parish in Biloxi and later attended Sacred Heart Parish in D'Iberville after Hurricane Katrina.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Mabry Barras, parents George and Theozia Lee, sister Joanna Lee, brothers Veen Lee and Erving Lee, nephew Veen Lee Jr. and niece Loretta Lee, sister-in-law, Agnes Tesa Barras Wiltz and niece Esther Tut Pitts.
To cherish her kind and loving memories on earth, brother and sister-in-law Webster and Delores Lee, niece and goddaughter Terri Fournier, who were attentive caregivers after the death of Mabry; nieces Joanna Letort, Georgene Weaver, Robin Fayard, Amy Lechner, Margaret Babischkin, Linda Lee, Lorraine Lee, Lina Kay Green and nephew Robert Bobby Lee, sister-in-law, Lillian Bea Barras Pitts, Donna Pitts, Gina Pitts, Debbie Pitts, Johnny Pitts, Roland Wiltz, Larry Wiltz, Robert Wiltz, and numerous great, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins in the Lee, Broussard and Barras families.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from 10 am until 11 am, with an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial, all at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Helen's great-nephews, Eric Fournier, Chris Letort, Jackie Weaver, Mark Fayard, Trent Lechner and great-great nephew Brodie Paige. Gift Bearers for the Mass will be great-nieces, Brandi Fournier Paige, Kimberly Letort Trosclair and Alivia Lechner, and Honorary Gift Bearer Dr. Kristin Weaver of Gainesville, FL. who will be attending the service in her prayers.
The family wishes to thank Biloxi Community Living Center Serenity Ward Staff and Odyssey Hospice Staff for the excellent care of Helen during her stay. A special thanks to Stelle Bynum for the special kindness and care given to Helen during her battle with cancer.
