Helen Dabbs, age 85 of Gulfport died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in Gulfport. She was born in Fitzgerald, GA and had been a resident of the MS Gulf Coast for the past five years. She was formerly employed with Wesley Medical Center and later retired as a home health nurse. She served as the church pianist at Pendorff Methodist Church in Laurel for many years and she also played for weddings. Her talent was not only enjoyed by others but also served as therapy for herself. Her smile is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Dabbs was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. Dabbs and also her first husband, Hulas Gibbs; her parents, Ivy Parker and Lola Belle Robitzsch; a son, Charles Gibbs; and by all of her siblings.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Kimberly Luck of Long Beach; a grandson, Richard (Sonja) Gibbs of Hattiesburg; seven great-grandchildren; and five great great- grandchildren.
The funeral service is Friday, December 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Hattiesburg where friends may visit beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg.
