Helen Gilstrap passed away on July 15, 2014.
She was born on April 14, 1926 in Lumberton, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lorena Roberts; her husband, Lon Gilstrap; her brother Sam Roberts; and sister, Hattie Roberts.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Ford, her daughters: Fran Williams (Max), Pat Farris (Tom), Linda Alfonso; and a son, Greg Gilstrap (Kathy); grandsons, Max Williams, Jr. and Bernie Parker, Jr.(Angie), Corey Crosz ; granddaughters Jessica Hammons, Leslie Barker (Robby), Kim Riser (Kevin), Faith Gage (John), and Jamie Hillin (Ty); and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were her whole world. She was a wonderful cook who was always able to feed whoever happened to drop by at lunchtime. She loved politics and always enjoyed a good debate. Her favorite television shows were news programs, and she loved reading non-fiction, especially anything about Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
She will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
