Henry B. Ryan, 87, of Biloxi passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in Ocean Springs.
Henry was a native and lifelong resident of St. Martin. He worked as a salesman for Dee’s Chevrolet from 1967 until his retirement in 1987. Henry joined Council 1244 of the Knights of Columbus in Biloxi at the age of 18, was a 4th degree member and was once honored as Knight of the Quarter. He served the Council as financial secretary for 32 years. Henry served on the St. Martin School Board, St. Martin Lions Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church Finance Committee. Henry was a very dedicated husband, father and friend. He was known to be a very generous and giving man who loved all and was loved by all.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Norvel Bennett Ryan; his parents, Angero and Mary Fountain Ryan; and his sister, Josephine Lowery. His daughter, Betty Lou Callegari passed away a few hours following his passing.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Bond Ryan of St. Martin; his daughters, Nancy Letort of St. Martin and Theresa (Keith) Simmons of Long Beach; his very special son-in-law, buddy and caretaker, Johnny Callegari; seven grandchildren, Michael Letort, Cullen (Tara) Letort, Jay (Crystal) Callegari, Stacy (Zachary) Stone, Lacy (Christopher) Fetters, Justin Simmons and Vicki (Stewart) Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Abbey, Ryan, Jackson, Eli, Davis, Carolyne, Katie and Shelby; and an expected great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church St. Vincent de Paul, 10446 Lemoyne Blvd., D’Iberville, MS 39540 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy, P.O. Box 1228, Biloxi, MS 39533.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. where friends may visit one hour prior to mass time. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery in St. Martin.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
