HenryEtta Aldridge Yexley passed away April 3, 2013 at the Mather Pavillion in Evanston, Illinois. A lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, she had lived in Chicago since her home was damaged in Hurricane Katrina. She was born to Julia Kittrell Turner and Henry Turner of Hattiesburg on February 23, 1920. She is predeceased by her son, Kenneth Aldridge; husbands, Coyle Edward Aldridge and Sidney Yexley; and her brother, Robert Prine. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Aldridge (Thomas Adamson) of Chicago; and her grandson Jason Aldridge (Catherine) of Alpharetta, GA.
HenryEtta and Coyle owned “The Dinah” restaurant, at Courthouse Road and Highway 90, after World War II. They then opened the Rebel Motel in Biloxi. After Coyle’s death, HenryEtta took the reigns of the family business and built The Aldridge House Apartments, on adjacent property. She ran the apartment business until 2005, when Katrina destroyed the apartments and damaged her home, at which time she moved to Chicago with her daughter.
The family would like to thank the kindness and generosity of the Staffs of the Sunrise Assisted Living in Chicago and The Mather Pavillion in Evanston, IL. We also thank her wonderful caregivers, Paulette Lizana of Saucier, and Barbara Bloch of Chicago, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in HenryEtta’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz. org, would be appreciated.
