Hubert Dale Kirk,

SMSGT Hubert Dale Kirk, Sr., age 90, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in Biloxi, MS. Sgt. Kirk was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, serving twenty five years in the military. He served four years as a deputy sheriff in Jackson County, and worked at Ingalls Ship Yard. He served as commander of V.F.W. Post 5699 in Ocean Springs, for one term, was the founding Commander of D.A.V. Chapter 17, of Ocean Springs, serving four years as commander. He was the founder of the Biloxi National Cemetery Memorial Committee, and while serving three years as chairman, he helped lead to the establishment of the avenue of flags. He served one term as Chaplain for the D.A.V., Department of Mississippi, and was appointed as National Deputy Chief of Staff in the National Department of the Disabled American Veterans in 1984. He was a member of The Woolmarket Baptist Church in Woolmarket. He is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Wayne. Sgt. Kirk leaves his loving wife Ramona of 22 years; two sons, Hubert Dale, Jr., and Donald (Dawn) and one step son, Ernest (Vickie) Wolfe; two daughters, Beth (Darrell) Bailey, and Lana (Keith) Richard; also four step daughters, Valerie (Donald) Martino, Helen (Michael) Fayard, Vivian Champaigne and Angela Wolfe; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Women’s Resource Center, 9155 Lorraine Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. Funeral services will be at Woolmarket Baptist Church on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with full military honors. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
